We went over the study guide from yesterday.
HW: Be prepared for the test over 5.4, 5.6, 5.9 which is tomorrow, 12/16. Students had the opportunity to check their work from WS 5.9 (transformation problems only) with the solutions on the screen. Students were given a study guide for sections 5.4, 5.6, & 5.9. They had the entire class to work on it. I came around and answered questions at each table. 5th hour checked over their DMA 12 from yesterday.
HW: Complete the study guide 5.4, 5.6, 5.9. Test will be this Friday, 12/16. We reviewed the work we did early in the semester with transformations using a, h, and k. We added one new transformation: reflection over the y-axis which is done by changing all x-values to (-x). We named the transformations on 6 examples and also wrote the new function given the transformations on another 6 examples.

HW: Complete WS 5.9 We went over #6 & #8 from WS 5.6 Reteaching. We also discussed the end of the semester and how most students will reassess over 4.7 - 4.8 for their final exam (next Monday or Tuesday).
Tomorrow, students will be taking the district assessment on division of polynomials & determining if a binomial is a factor of a polynomial (section 5.4). Students had the rest of the class period to work on book 5.6 or the worksheets from last week. HW: Book 5.6 Page 322 - 324 1 - 4, 8, 14, 21, 23 - 25, 30 - 42 even, 43, 44, 50 - 52 Test over 5.4, 5.6, 5.9 on Friday, December 16th. Students completed the 6 question district assessment of factoring methods. Students then had the rest of class to finish WS 5-6 Reteaching. We did 3 of the 10 problems together. WS 5-6 Practice was collected.
HW: WS 5-6 Reteaching. Test 5.4 - 5.6 on 12/15. We went over the factoring problems on WS 5.6 Practice. We showed how we could use the ZPP (zeros product property) to find all the zeros of a polynomial. We completed the cubic polynomials on the back side.

District Assessment on Factoring (6 questions) is tomorrow, 12/9. Review sections 4.4, 5.2, 5.3. This is a summative quiz grade. Students used the class period to factor the front side of WS 5.6 and then use the graphing calculators to find the rational zeros.
HW: WS 5.6 We completed our notes from 5.5 - 5.6 which included the fundamental theorem of algebra as well as finding the rational roots of a polynomial with rational coeffecients. We showed how the use of the graphing calculator takes the guess work out of finding the rational roots.
HW: none We used the first half of class to go over the Quiz 5.4. We went over all problems from 3 - 8. Then students had the remaining half of the class to complete the review Worksheet on Dividing Polynomials using long division and synthetic division.
HW: Complete Dividing Polynomials ID #3 (1 - 14, the answers are attached.) |
