Students completed WS 5.1 Test Prep and then we went over WS 5.1 and collected it. We started our 5.2 notes by using factoring to identify the zeros of a polynomial. We discussed factoring methods and using the ZPP to find the zeros.

Students completed the 5.1 Additional Vocab Support sheet in class which reviewed how to classify a polynomial by its degree and number of terms. We used desmos.com to investigate the end behavior of linear, quadratic, cubic, quartic, quintic polynomials with lead coeffecients that were positive or negative.
We came up with this generalization: For polynomials with even degrees, if a> 0 then the end behavior is up, up. For polynomials with even degrees, if a< 0 then the end behavior is down, down. For polynomials with ODD degrees, if a> 0 then the end behavior is down, up. For polynomials with ODD degrees, if a< 0 then the end behavior is up, down. The study guide and practice test were collected with any missing work.
Students received their second Quiz 4.8 back and we went over common errors. We went over the study guide 4.7 - 4.8 that students received last Friday.
HW: Turn in any missing work (STD 14) by tomorrow. Test 4.7 - 4.8 is tomorrow, 11/7. Turn in study guide 4.7 - 4.8, practice test (from last week). Keys are posted on http://mrsseverson.weebly.com/algebra-3-4.html We went over the back side of yesterday's homework sheet, which reviewed solving equations by using the quadratic formula as well as using the square root method (when there is only x^2 and no x in the equation). We did 21 - 28 together. Students also received a study guide 4.7 - 4.8 which needs to be completed in order to take the test on Tuesday, 11/7.
Students used the last 15 - 20 minutes to complete the second 4.8 quiz. HW: Complete the study guide and yesterday's WS Complex Numbers Practice Test. Test is Tuesday! Students received their quiz 4.8 back. 3rd hour went over the quiz. Then we played 2 Kahoot games to review oprations with complex numbers.
HW: Quiz 4.8 - using the quadratic formula with complex numbers is tomorrow, 11/3. Turn in any missing work. We went over book 4.8 assignment and collected it. Then we played Kahoot with a 15 question review of complex number operations. Then students completed their 4:8 quiz.
HW: complete any missing work - test is next Tuesday, 11/7. |
